Update on Blog Updates

Category: Me - Tags: , ,

Just a quick post letting people know that if something has stopped working, I’ve more than likely messed it up with the changes I’m making at the moment. I know my photos page isn’t working at the moment, I should have that back up and running tomorrow (but first, I have college work) :P

There’s still a bit left to go, like getting the sub navigation links to stay showing while in an actual sub navigation page, getting everything organized the way I want it, different sidebars for different pages and just the general layout of the posts

If you notice something wrong, please leave a comment so I can follow it up. Thanks! :)

Anywho, until tomorrow (or when ever I post next) *salutes*

TeenCamp Ireland Review

Category: Randomness - Tags: , , ,

Well, yesterday was the first TeenCamp Ireland event. I was planning to Live Blog it as it happened, but I couldn’t find a socket for my laptop, and Wi-FI was patchy, so this will have to do.

Bloggers from all over Ireland came to meet others, give talks, and be inspired (as I was). There were some well known bloggers such as Damien Mulley, Tommy Collison and Alexia Golez (I’ll admit I only ever heard of Damien before TeenCamp), and much less known bloggers such as myself.

The event started about half an hour late, but that’s generally happens with any event. Enda was first up on stage just welcoming us all, followed by Alan with a short presentation outlining the point of TeenCamp. (Video coming soon). Next up was Tommy, and his talk on community on the internet. (Again, video coming soon)

Aaaaaand that’s where I stopped recording it… There was other talks from Klaraflame on Anime and Manga, TheChrisD on gaming, David Doran on his experience as a web developer, and his tips for others looking to go down the same route, Ben Kenealy with a quite light hearted talk on meeting new people online. Sorry if I missed out others, I’m surprised I remember that many!

During the event everyone got up on stage, introduced themselves and answer questions. A great way to break the ice with people, as we were all doing the same thing, it didn’t feel awkward or in any way uncomfortable.

All in all, TeenCamp was a great success, and I can’t wait for the next one. If I find any more videos of talks, I’ll embed them here.

Ben Kenealy on social aspects of the internet: (thanks Damien)

New Design, New Domain, New Focus

Category: Randomness - Tags: , ,

After being at TeenCamp Ireland today (full review coming tomorrow), I’ve been inspired to really get into blogging. I’ve been posting nothing but news really, and I just don’t really get enjoyment from that…

I’ve realised that I don’t want to be a news blog, I want to give my opinion, post some random links, vids or pics that ammused or captivated me, post little tutorials for those who maybe in need of them, my progress in college and other factors of my life. Basically I want to make my blog what blogs are supposed to be – personal. I hope that I’ll update often enough, and I’ll get a little community started.

By the way, I’m fully aware that the domain doesn’t match the logo… Yet… And the design is still a work in progress, but it’s usable now, and that’s what matters.
